Here are some easy beginnings (the pun IS intended, and I could go on all night long!).
Genesis is the origin, start, or point at which something comes into being.
Genesis is the Greek name for the first book of the Judo-Christian Bible. Biblical scholars believe that Genesis is a collection of stories by an assortment of Hebrew authors written from the 8th to the 5th centuries B.C.E. The stories are an ancient peoples’ attempt to explain where man came from.
According to Karen Armstrong, “In every culture, we find the myth of a lost paradise, in which humans lived in close and daily contact with the divine. They were immortal, and lived in harmony with one another, with animals and with nature.
At the centre of the world there was a tree, a mountain, or a pole, linking earth and heaven, which people could easily climb to reach the realm of the gods. Then there was a catastrophe: the mountain collapsed, the tree was cut down, and it became more difficult to reach heaven.
The story of the Golden Age, a very early and almost universal myth, was never intended to be historical. It springs from a strong experience of the sacred that is natural to human beings, and expresses their tantalising sense of a reality that is almost tangible and only just out of reach.
Most of the religions and mythologies of archaic societies are imbued with longing for the lost paradise.” A Short History of Myth, 2005
I think of genesis as a birth or a rebirth.
A new beginning, a new growth.
A first time thing.
I think of the color green.
I think of Phil Collins and his old band, Genesis.

I think of origin myths. Like in the Mayan Popol Vuh, where the first man (woman) created was made of corn. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popol_Vuh.
In Guatemala, many contemporary artists have been inspired by this book (Popol Vuh) and by the Mayan murals and stella/bas reliefs in Chiapas, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.
That’s where my mind is going as I think of Genesis. Not the Apple but the Corn. In my mind, it’s about corn: maíz. Hombre de Maíz. So I’ll be using colors related to yellow and earth and I’ll be thinking Maya. Ana

Brian wrote, “Hi Maureen,
I woke up at 4 this am and resumed thinking about Genesis from a different angle than earlier, which points to the paradox of time itself, of there being a beginning. That is, what cannot be true, without assumptions I cannot imagine.
Bill Clinton famously proffered a notion that his guilt could depend on the definition of “what ‘is’ is”, and since “to be” conjugates to “was” and “will be”, Time forms a conceptual basis to play with, in general.
I’m thinking of another sound project. Sound happens, and can only be experienced, in a flow of time. Coming into existence happens over time.
The result of this sound play is to be a flow of imagery, conjured up automatically in the listener’s mind, in the present tense. I’m having fun with this!”

Wow, I just love this paragraph:
“The story of the Golden Age, a very early and almost universal myth, was never intended to be historical. It springs from a strong experience of the sacred that is natural to human beings, and expresses their tantalising sense of a reality that is almost tangible and only just out of reach.”
In Tarot, this is the Fool – an archetype that exists and yet doesn’t exist. He is pregnant with the collective concious and wisdom of past lives, and yet he is not fully manifested, he is a being waiting to be created. It is a place of hope and wanting.
I think of our political climate, and the possibility of a Great Turning.
I think of the seeds we planted; they are the origins of a great plant, perhaps/maybe/hopefully.
I think of the branding process I am undergoing, getting at the heart of what I want to unleash into this world.
Currently I am working on the paper invitations, which I will distribute in late March. I am playing with watercolors, and learning how the color travels through water. Each invitation is an investigation, not quite a piece, but part of something bigger, hopefully.

I had the opportunity to work at a art college in San Francisco Academy of Arts, while working there I discovered something magical, a buzz in the air, when one is surrounded by creative minds, its just like excited electrons ones creative abilities jump to the next energy level, each element is affected especially if the minds are bouncing off each other. Its a fantastic envelope to be submerged in a Junketeers dreamscape.
